Holy Week & Easter

After our 40 day pilgrimage through Lent we come to Holy Week.  This begins on PALM SUNDAY when we remember Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey.  At both Holy Trinity and St Dunstan’s we will once agin be walking to church singing Hosannah and giving away Palms which have been blessed and you might ever see a donkey!!   There is also an opportunity to meet every day to share at the Lords table. Then on Wednesday of Holy Week at St Dunstan’s join us as we learn just what sort of meal Jesus and his disciples had on Maundy Thursday.  On MAUNDY THURSDAY we begin to take the last steps of our journey starting in the upper room, having our feet washed, recalling the Last Supper and Jesus’ arrest, then waiting in prayer with the Lord in the garden. On GOOD FRIDAY we’ll be Churches Together to walk from the Baptist Church to Holy Trinity church in Forest Row to witness to Jesus being led off to the cross and will of course be having Hot Cross Buns. Later on Friday afternoon we will gather again to remember the Lord dying on the cross. On HOLY SATURDAY all is silent until the sun goes down and we begin the ancient tradition of bring the light back into church, a wonderful service where we bless the Easter Candle and begin our Easter celebrations!  Then EASTER DAY we sing God’s praises and once again songs of Alleluia, and flowers, and colour are brought back into the church … We are an EASTER POEPLE!
